what happened in September? lots happened...
friday after we got back from california i went under the knife. eeeks. and eeeks it was.
i had a simple surgery performed by my podiatrist dr. rogers in the af hospital.
since paraguay i have had some major foot issues...with throbbing pain very often.
since we move to chile in december...i figured i should use the good insurance i have and fix it.
so after three years of seeing specialists...my regular dr. holmes recommended dr. rogers.the brilliant man examined my foot...heard my sad story...and ordered an x-ray.
ordered an x-ray. seems easy enough and yet he was the first specialist to do so.
ha ha! a discovery is made. my third metatarsal was lower than the rest...thus receiving all the weight of each step=inflammation=pain.
solution: cut open foot from above...cut out a wedge of bone from my third metatarsal...prop it up and put a pin. 4-6 weeks in a cast and whala!
so i have a purple cast on my foot almost up to the knee.first time ever with a cast.
pretty cool that my niece Lydia chose the same color purple for her arm cast.
recovery was going well until i got soooo sick. i thought for sure it was a combination of the meds i was on...but it may very well be a nasty virus that just so happened to come around when i was recovering from foot surgery. i'm doing much better now...a week later...but honestly...being sick for a few days is complete misery. i always wish i could stay home more...but never when i am sick. my poor husband. my poor husband. he not only took care of me with the foot stuff...but he put up with me when i lived in the bathroom for three days. it just was no fun. the fun he did have however...was to see me coming out of anesthesia. they put me completely out for the surgery...and it was really interesting coming to. it was strange, really. i would wake up for a few minutes...see the hospital curtain...and then black out. then i would re-live the same situation like ten times. so of course i acted confused and asked what was going on. even the nurse was laughing with ernesto...and i too was laughing. it was funny.
my sister carolyn has been there a lot for us the last few weeks. she is always there to help. i wish i could do more to thank her. azaleia absolutely adores her cousin charlie...and she loves her auntie carolyn too. those two rascals just light up when they are together. i love seeing them talk together. the expressions on their face is just priceless. i wish i could capture that in a photo. charlie did start walking this month...too too cute!azaleia had an interesting fun time here...
needless to say...a few of her toys disappeared. since my foot had to be elevated as much as possible...our time the first week consisted of a lot of Go Diego Go. She now loves loves loves that show. it is the first thing that has ever caught her attention. she is so cute making the sounds of the animals. she comes up to me...grabs my fingers...and leads me to the tv area so that i can turn it on for her. oh she is soooo cute!we had a chilean party last weekend for independence day. that was so fun! i'll post pictures. we have some fun plans this weekend too...i'll post that too.
in stake conference a few weeks ago...Sis. Beck said something that hit home. she said the young mothers should not spend so much time on the computer and internet when their young ones are there at their side. if there is one thing i am guilty of...it is that. there is so much content online...so much to discover when it comes to sewing and crafts and keeping up with blogs and facebook. it is definitely something i want to keep at a minimum now that i have had some time to think about it. i'm not horrible...but i definitely go online first before i start other things. and i want to change that. i want to limit my time here. and here i am blogging away. it is at times hard. but i encourage any of you reading this long post...to think of something else to do before you are tempted to check updates or search things online. best wishes to you at that as well!

Leanna, I love to hear all the updates. I am also dying to know what you are going to Chile for! Work? School? Also, I have thought a lot also about the computer and being home, and it is very easy to spend more time on here than is necessary. I've been trying to limit myself also. Anyways, best of luck in your foot recovery! Azaleia is as beautiful as ever!
