on the road to Memphis

Ernesto finished his internship for the summer...school hadn't started yet for either of us...so we decided last minute to go visit our friends the Fairbanks in Missouri.  We drove the whole day to get there...so we decided to vacay too...stopping in Memphis on the way there.  It was really fun!  We first ate at Gus's Fried Chicken...a place we found about off the Travel Channel's Man vs. Food.  The fried chicken...delish.  The green fried tomatoes...better than Paula Deen's for sure.  After a full tummy we walked down to Beale Street and got a feel for the Blues and how Elvis shaped rock n' roll music and pop culture.  A perfect afternoon.  We didn't make it to Graceland...I went there a few years back...and we weren't willing to pay for the experience...so I am glad Ernesto and Azaleia still got a feel for Elvis on Beale Street.
