Loucero was so beautiful! For those of you who don't know...turning 15 in most Latin American countries...is like North American girls turning 16...but times 100! It is a coming of age...presenting your daughter to society...like it was in Jane Austen days. Well this last weekend one of my young women had her quinciera...or 15th Birthday party! It was huge! Hands down more expensive than my own wedding. We loved it. First hour...an Andean Music group with cool instruments and sounds...all as we ate a yummy Mexican dinner. Then an hour of Mariachi...awesome! Then a program...with traditional waltzs...father/daughter dance...and multiple dance performances...not to mention the video/music presentation. There was even a traditional ceremony with her giving her childhood doll to her younger sister and then being crowned. It was a beautiful evening...and Ernesto further concludes that we will only have boys...because paying for a huge 15th as well as a wedding is just too much. Although thank goodness that Chileans don't make the girls and 15 a big party...but weddings are very elaborate and elegant like the quinciera was.

Oh my goodness... I couldnt handle that if I was in that culture...
think... basically 2 weddings... YIKES!
What a beautiful day. I have heard that your extended family pitches in over the years, as you SAVE for this occasion. Pretty amazing.
I would go broke if I had to do that and a wedding for my girls. She did look beautiful though, and sounds like a fun night with cool entertainment.
i once went to a quinciera...but it wasn't as fancy as this one was. maybe i just didn't understand the culture either, but it looks like you guys had fun!!
wow,, don't they go all out? so crazy. It looks way more expensive than my wedding too, haha. No hot dogs & potato salad??
Love you!!!
